Sophia Büthe is a german contemporary artist living and working in the Eifel. She is focused on large paintings and has been practising Butoh-dance. This bizarre form of dance theater influenced essentially her gestural language. With her sensitivity for movement and color she creates paintings from outside experiences recorded to her body feeling. She paints circularly, layering impressions dry on dry, creating expressive and dense coloured compositions.
